Airbus lists first jobs for new assembly line in Mobile, Ala.

Airbus has posted the first few openings for the aircraft assembly line it’s beginning to build in Mobile, and says it plans to hire 600 new employees over the next 18 months. The company will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking next week for its second Final Assembly Line (FAL) at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. The new FAL will produce the new A220 family of passenger jets. Airbus has said it plans to deliver its first Mobile-built A220 in 2020; the latest announcement says it plans to begin A220 assembly work in 2019. According to information released Wednesday by the company, newly announced positions “are the first wave of production jobs announced for the company’s A220 aircraft assembly line.”
